Good day. Thank you for excepting me. My name is Melvin, 70 years young and live in Gauteng, South Africa. Started wearing Modern kilts and short skirts about 7 years ago for the comfort in the summer heat of South Africa and will never go back to pants or shorts again.

Welcome, Melsav! That's great, to beak out of old rules in the age of 63! Respect!

Cheers,
Micha

Welcome!
As most in here is written in German and I am curious by nature: Do you use an online translation system or are you able to read German?

Hello Melsav

Feel good with us in the forum 🤗
I also started wearing skirts and dresses a few years ago to be comfortable in the summer heat in southern Germany.
Here in the forum I met many like-minded people, now I wear skirts all year round.

For easy translation I use google or DeepL  ;)

Greetings
Jürgen

Thank you all for your warm welcome.
In answer to the question from Olivier. I use Google translate to read the posts properly although I can read and understand a little German as one of the official languages of South Africa is Africans which is based on a number of European languages but mainly Dutch and German I believe.
I am not much of a conversation person but love to read other people's posts and comment where I can.
I wear mostly modern kilts every day including winter as the winter day time temperatureso are late teens to early 20s C. I have pictures that I will post later.

Hello and welcome here.

Afrikaans is based on Dutch which is related/verwante to "Plattdeutsch" a historical form of German which also can be understood by older people in the middle and north  of Germany.

You can be glad to have warm winters, here we have some years temperatures lower than -10°C. I can remember an advertisement of the south african VW Citi which told that now all cars have a rear window demister because of the low winter temperatures near or short above 0°C.

Maybe you want to tell us about the kilts and the reactions from people to it. This would be exciting for us.

Best regards

Hi Double Skirt. Thanks for the info. Our winters are very mild but we do have some winter morning temp of about -3 C but by about 9 or 10 am the temp is around mid teens. As soon as I figure out how to add a picture I will load some pics of my kilts. As a hobbies I make my own modern kilts from fabrics I find at the fabric store. So far only had compliments mainly from African ladies.
