Hi Flying scottish Desmond,

I refer to your clan or name, Ogilvie. I met two men with this name, both true Germans. The younger one is a pastor somewhere in Mecklenburg county (where I also live) and is not at all interested in his ancestors. He may be about 40.

The elder one must be about 110 or so if he is still alife, and he was a major during WW2. I met him two ot three times when I was a child of about 10, and I liked him very much. I still have a photograph of him.

I also like the Ogilvies´ tartans.

Hi Stefan,

Unbelievable to hear that there´s a real ancient Ogilvie still alive at 110.Good on the old boy!!!The main reason I wear Ogilvie is to honour a colleague of mine (Ogilvie) who was killed in the Falklands war.
If you like the Ogilvie tartans why not google the Davidson Clan Tartan(my clan),it really is very close to the Ogilvie one.Take care, fly safe and a great weekend-----Desmond

... no Desmond, I am sure that the older Ogilvie is dead since long, though his photograph still smiles in my album.

But the younger one I happen to meet once in a while.

My favorite tartans are the bright ones, since I love to wear bright colours. So, of all Ogilvie-an tartans presented by House of Tartan, I like the redish ones most. The Davidson I have found seems to be a little darker, is it so?

I would prefer green-blue in bright expression, but at this moment I have enough skirts.

Thank you, this weekend was one of the best ones, much sun and nice friends - though no one wearing anything like a skirt or so, neither woman nor man.

Hi Stefan, thought it was too good to be true-----a 110 year old Ogilvie!I did see a report though in the newspaper featuring a 110 year old gentleman--think he´s Germany´s oldest citizen--no kilt though.
You´re right Davidson tartan is somewhat darker and I´m considering doing my next bungee jump in Royal Stewart(bright red)Maybe see you there?---1´st jump 9 Sept at 4pm---Pütchens Markt.Till then fly safe and fingers crossed for a sunny weekend -:)
